Learning becomes more effective when a good teaching method is adopted by the teacher. The conventional system of education involved the use of lecture method in the classrooms which was teacher – centric and student participation was missing. The unsatisfactory results of this technique led to an analysis on the education system in total and develop methods to make the teaching – learning more effective.

Keeping this in mind, the institute has adopted modern and innovative teaching methodology involving an active participation of students.

• Lesson Plans are prepared by the teachers and are provided to the students well in advance so that they come well prepared to the class.
• The teachers prepare PPTs and also lay a thrust on the presentations by students.
• The teachers and students are provided with laptops and the campus has been Wi – Fi enabled.
• The classrooms have been equipped with LCD projectors and Digital Smart Boards.
• The students are asked a series of questions by the teacher to collect information of what they have learnt. Thus, the student remains attentive and an interactive atmosphere is developed in the classroom.
• Five different methods of teaching are adopted by the faculty to make the teaching practices more effective that can add to astounding academic achievements. The methods adopted are
• Lecture Method – Teachers deliver the content to the students by delivering lectures on the topic that are well prepared through intensive search on the content.
• Group Discussion – The students are allotted a topic and given some time to think upon it. After that there is a healthy discussion on the topic.
• Quiz – The students are told in advance about the topic on which there will be a quiz competition. The teachers prepare questions related to the topic. This method is very effective since a number of questions are asked and the doubts cleared with every question. The best part is that this method induces a strong spirit of competition among the students.
• Debate – Some topics that require a set of thoughts to be expressed and discussed extensively in are taught by initiating debates in which full participation of the students is ensured.
• Declamation – This is again a very effective way of teaching in which the students prepare a topic and explain it to the students by preparing a presentation on it.
• Case Study – Case studies related to different subjects and business are discussed in the class which helps to develop the problem resolving capability of the students.

The revision activities are conducted at the end of the semester. The students are provided a question bank prepared by their subject teachers and daily tests are conducted out of those important questions.

Baba Farid Group of Institutions organized a seminar on “Comparison of Teaching Methodologies of India and Canada” on January 04, 2010. In this seminar, Mr. Manmeet Singh Bhullar (Parliamentary Assistant Ministry of Advanced Education and Technology, Alberta State, Canada), Prof. (Dr.) Pritam Singh from Oxford Brooks University, England, Dr. Rajnish Arora (Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jallandhar), Dr. S.S. Gill (Vice Chancellor, BFUMS, Faridkot), Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Manmohan Singh (Director, World Punjabi Center), S. Amarjit Singh Grewal (Advisor, World Punjabi Center), Paramjit Singh Sandhu (MLA, Edminton, Canada) delivered their expert lectures. More than 250 faculty members representing various educational institutions attended this seminar.
